ORTUS BLOG

Youth Mental Health Insights from the Intermountain West.

Why we write these blogs

At Ortus Foundation, we believe that understanding drives action. These blogs exist to bridge the gap between research and practice, to illuminate the unique challenges facing youth mental health in the Intermountain West, and to share the innovative solutions emerging from our communities.

We write because language matters. Because data tells stories that demand to be heard. Because educators, healthcare providers, parents, policymakers, and community leaders need accessible, evidence-based information to inform their work. And because young people across Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado deserve advocates who understand the specific contexts shaping their mental health experiences.

Our blogs explore the intersections of geography, policy, culture, and practice. We examine what works, what doesn’t, and why. We highlight promising approaches while acknowledging persistent challenges. Most importantly, we write with hope, grounded in the knowledge that informed communities are empowered communities, and that thoughtful dialogue is the foundation of meaningful change.
